Why is Cranberra the controversial capital of Australia. Takecarez.
in 1905 when the 1st Aus committee met to decide the capital, Melbourne and Sydney fought like kids :) and neither gave up. So, England, the mother of all blunders, decided on having a capital between Melb and Syd, not more than 100 miles off Sydney. hence Canberra was 'born' :P
And the names 1st thought were sick and stupid.. one of them being MelbSydourne.. but then they came up with canberra, meaning Meeting Place in Aborijinal language
