Panchayat in Session?

A panchayat at a village on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. I was in Delhi, and on the roads of North India during my last trip there. I shall be posting quite a few shots from the road trip.

Is it really a panchayat, cos, panchayats usually involve almost the whole village..

panchayats needn't be infront of the public. there are loads of issues that are discussed in private.. where the main 5 sit and discuss it like a cabinet meeting.

Seems you've gotten back your camera... waiting for more pics.

Also, how come the photo's a bit hazy.. was this taken from the car while you were moving?

@Kousik: thanks

@Sidney: i learnt that this was a panchayat, as this was the village of my driver. u can get more info on the panchayat from the link i put up on the site. simply put, a panchayat is a group of 5 elderly people of the village who form the council, and they look after the ongoings in the village. that's all. they hold timely meetings with the people of the village, explaning to them whats going on, and also resolve their disputes. this meeting must've been just to discuss the ongoings in the village.

@ rahul: this shot was taken from the car.

@ anna: hanging out :P for sure :)
